Lake, pond, stream or river, float tube, drift boat, canoe, or wading, tackled with a rod in hand that’s Tactical Fishing.
Now don’t go getting your hackles up or maybe you should because some of the patterns and fly tying techniques we will present need to carry warnings that state "not to be stored in proximity to that taxidermic trout on your cabin wall."
Everyone on our staff has his or her favorite vices, and you can rest assured the vices we review and recommend are of the utmost quality and provide supreme satisfaction! When selecting a traveler or presentation grade tying vise the cam locks, rotation, and jaw assemblies are components that should be considered.
The best rods are constructed using graphite or bamboo. Reels whether traditional without a drag or one of the new titanium masterpieces with a drag that could slow down a pickup truck will be discussed along with suggested angling applications in mind.
One last word of advice before we start, waders made of neoprene are not wet suits! Finishing a full day float tube trip on a favorite river with a friend, I noticed his waders were sloshing rather loudly and his ankles had taken on the appearance of “Alice the Goon” a Popeye comic strip character. As we casually strolled to my vehicle, I politely inquired.... “Dude, what is all of that noise you’re making?”
He looked over at me and stated in a matter of fact sort of way, “Thanks for telling me about these neoprene waders! I was really cold out on the river and I did a number one several times to keep warm. Just like I do while wearing my wet suit!”
I thought to myself, this guy needs a good old fashion “Whip Finish” one of the many topics we will cover in this fine and often humorous section.
