Close Quarter Optics or secondary sights systems are mandatory if your next tactical encounter is CQB! Referred to as red dot or reflex sights these little gems can compensate for the parallax created as a shooter's head moves in relation to a target. Using passive or active adjustments they provide high visibility and work great in both bright or very dim light conditions. Open and full tube designs, battery powered or illuminated by ambient light gathered using fiber optics, they can be mounted at virtually any distance from the shooter's eye. They can even be used in conjunction with night vision scopes and magnification modules. Piggybacked onto a long range tactical scope with one of the sturdy mounting devices available, a shooter is provided with the best of both worlds. Great for any firearm, long gun, pistol or revolver with a Picatinny or weaver style rail, they make target acquisition very fast. Not surprising that they are very popular with airsoft and paintball players and should not be confused with a projected laser. That is a different type of red dot sighting device to be discussed in a different section of Tactical Threshold.
