“AR-10” is a US trademark held by the company Armalite. DPMS Panther Arms, located in St. Cloud Minnesota, specializes in AR style rifles. They currently produce a .308 semi-auto called the LR-308 “Panther” which has earned the NRA “Rifle of the year” for 2004, 2005 & 2006. Want something with a lot more punch and out of the box accuracy? This is the rifle for you! We call it the Thumper.

Eugene Stoner, a talented small arms engineer, designed the rifle around fifty years ago. The design was excellent but a commercial failure. Over the past several years the design patterned after the AR-15A2 has been scaled up to take the 7.62x51mm NATO (.308Win.) cartridge.

The DPMS pictured is shown with the Nikon 6.5x20x44 Monarch adjustable objective riflescope along with a hint of the Aimpoints Comp M3 as a secondary sight. Nikon is a name that is well respected when it comes to optics. The rebirth of the AR-10 platform was produced and modified by several companies. With it’s .308 stopping power it is extremely accurate and a great choice for the first time assault rifle owner.
